The Vikram lander likely crashed onto the lunar surface on September 6

The Chandrayaan-2 mission’s Vikram lander was descending toward the moon when it suddenly went off trajectory just 1.3 miles above the lunar surface.

India is trying to become the fourth country to complete a controlled soft landing on the moon.

It’s a huge milestone for India and for the growth of reusable spacecraft worldwide.
